As DeVos Place wraps its 20th year in operation, we take a look back at five ways the convention center has celebrated throughout 2025.
- 53 Anniversary Social Posts: On Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and LinkedIn, DeVos Place shared a total of 53 posts celebrating the anniversary. These posts ranged from historical event highlights to client testimonials, showing the impact the convention center has had on Grand Rapids and Kent County. DeVos Place has used its social media presence to engage with patrons and cultivate a welcoming atmosphere for both clients and attendees.
- 50 Event Tickets Donated: DeVos Place has continued facilitating community connections through a non-profit donation effort during its anniversary year. Partnering with conventions, events and public shows that have taken place at DeVos Place throughout the year, the venue has donated over 50 event tickets to 12 non-profits in the area including Mackenzie’s Animal Sanctuary, Kids’ Food Basket, Kent District Library, and more.
- 83 Celebratory Signs: The venue has also displayed custom anniversary signage including 50 window clings, 20 garden stakes, numerous posters in the venue’s Grand Gallery, and a digital slideshow highlighting the development and events at the convention center over the past two decades. Together, these visual elements create an immersive experience that reflects the convention center’s impact on Grand Rapids and its role in the community’s cultural and economic scene.
- 156 Events Hosted: So far throughout 2025, DeVos Place has held 156 events. From the Oddities and Curiosities Expo to the MJVBA State Championships, the convention center offers a variety of experiences for all members of the community. The venue is capable of hosting everything from large-scale athletic competitions and trade shows to educational conferences, expos, cultural gatherings, and family-friendly entertainment. By the end of this year, each client will have received a special anniversary gift as a way to thank them for hosting their event at DeVos Place during our anniversary year, and working to contribute to the vibrancy of downtown Grand Rapids, drawing thousands of attendees and supporting local businesses throughout the region.
- 60 Coffee Gifts Given: As a way to say thank you to event planners for choosing DeVos Place, we gifted more than 60 coffee mugs and custom DeVos Place 20th Anniversary Madcap Coffee bags to clients who hosted their events with us during our anniversary year. This personalized gift added a special Grand Rapids touch—celebrating both our connection to the community and our support for local businesses. This number will continue to increase as additional gifts are distributed.
In addition to these five meaningful anniversary celebrations, DeVos Place also released a series of press releases highlighting its sustainability initiatives, its economic impact on Grand Rapids, Kent County and the West Michigan region, and its involvement in ArtPrize. As the 20th anniversary year comes to a close, DeVos Place remains committed to supporting the community—providing versatile event space, dedicated hospitality professionals, and a vibrant cultural hub.
