DeVos Place, DeVos Performance Hall announce Serie Latina 2019 with the Grand Rapids-Kent County Convention/Arena Authority’s Community Inclusion Group

The three-event series will celebrate Latin culture through entertainment

Grand Rapids — SMG-managed venues DeVos Place® and DeVos Performance Hall along with the Grand Rapids-Kent County Convention/Arena Authority’s Community Inclusion Group (CIG) proudly presents Serie Latina 2019, a series of three events celebrating Latin culture through entertainment. Following the Latin Entertainment Series in 2018, Serie Latina 2019 will feature live music, dancing, comedy, and more.

Salsa Night featuring Armando Vega will kick off the series on Friday, July 19, 2019 at 8:00 PM at DeVos Place in the Grand Gallery and Patio. The event will feature Detroit native Armando Vega, a musician specializing in salsa singing and dancing, as well as a performance from DJ Tony Banks (bachata, salsa, merengue, cumbia, and reggaeton) of Grand Rapids. DeVos Place will also have tequila tastings and food offerings in addition to free salsa dancing lessons during the event. Tickets are general admission and cost $15 in advance and $20 the day of the show.

The second event in the series, Comedy Night featuring Mario Aguilar “Celosa Yo? ¡Jamas!” will be on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 8:00 PM at DeVos Place in the Steelcase Ballroom. Mario Aguilar is a professional Mexican comedian who has gained popularity on YouTube creating comic content based on jealous women and stereotypical moms. A DJ and dancing will take place after the comedic portion of the evening. General admission tickets will be available for $35 in advance and $40 the day of the show. VIP tickets will also be available for $55 in advance and $60 the day of the show. VIP tickets include two drink tickets and a seat at a table in front near the stage. Mario Aguilar is a primarily Spanish-speaking entertainer and this event will be performed in Spanish.

The third and final event will be La Santa Cecilia on Friday, September 20, 2019 at 8:00 PM in DeVos Performance Hall. La Santa Cecilia is a GRAMMY Award-winning band exemplifying the modern-day creative hybrid of Latin culture, rock and world music. This six-member group draws inspiration from all over the world, utilizing Pan-American rhythms like cumbia, bossa nova, rumba, bolero, tango, jazz, rock and klezmer music. Their unique sound and the experience of their colorful, passionate performance leaves fans and new listeners mesmerized. They are proud to be from the City of Angels. Their influences range from Miles Davis to The Beatles, Zeppelin to Janis Joplin and Mercedes Sosa to Ramon Ayala. Their common love of music and openness to all genres led them to the concept of La Santa Cecilia in 2007 – named after the patron saint of musicians. General admission tickets will be available for $35 in advance and $40 the day of the show. VIP tickets will also be available for $55 in advance and $60 the day of the show. VIP tickets include two drink tickets and a seat in the first two rows.

Tickets for all Series Latina 2019 events will go on sale beginning Friday, June 28 at 10:00 AM. Tickets will be available at the DeVos Place and Van Andel Arena® box office and online at Ticketmaster.com. See Ticketmaster.com for all pricing and availability. Additional fees may apply.
